Thermite Has Been Used for Building Demolitions and Popular Mechanics Covered it in 1935

August 31, 2011

There are obvious differences in what is presented below and what most likely happened to WTC 1, 2, and 7 on 9/11; but thermite has been around for a while.

Skyride Tower Felled by Melting Steel Legs

Intense heat was employed by wrecking engineers in toppling the 3,000,000-pound east tower of the “Skyride,” a major attraction of Chicago’s Century of Progress. Huge “overshoes” in the form of cupolas made of steel and lined with firebrick were constructed around two legs of the tower and filled with 1,500 pounds of thermite, a mixture of aluminum and iron oxide. When fired by electricity the thermite generated a temperature of more than 5,000 degrees about the two legs, melting the ten-foot sections almost instantly, causing the tower to tip and then to crash. A microphone attached to the tip of the tower broadcast the noise of the fall by radio, and the spectacle was viewed by a crowd estimated at more than 100,000. The west tower had been wrecked several weeks earlier with dynamite. The 628-foot twin towers, the cables which supported the cars passing between them and the elevators cost more than $1,750,000 to erect.

New York’s other Memorial Day Comes and Goes; Nothing Changes

May 31, 2011

In this May 28, 2002 file photo, ironworkers make sure the path is clear as they remove the last remaining steel beam of the World Trade Center in a ceremony at ground zero in New York.

Another day to remember is pointed out by the AP:

While Americans grieved the 9/11 attacks and U.S. troops went to war in  Afghanistan, another army, one made up of ironworkers, heavy equipment operators  and mason tenders, toiled day and night to clear away the destruction of the  World Trade Center’s twin towers in lower Manhattan and recover the bodies of  the dead.

In just 8 1/2 months, an estimated 1.8 million tons of twisted steel and  pulverized concrete were painstakingly removed, transforming a mountainous pile  into a 16-acre hole that became known as The Pit.

By Memorial Day, it was all but over. The day after the holiday, workers cut  down the last column of steel still standing at the site.

Incidentally, the steel from 9/11 was on parade this week in New York in the form of a massive war-ship. CBS New York reports:

One of the ships taking part in this year’s Fleet Week is the USS New York, which was built in part using steel from the World Trade Center site.

The U.S.S. New York

On Saturday, the ship was adopted by September 11 families in a special ceremony in Staten Island, reports CBS 2’s Dave Carlin.

More War (Ships) From 9/11 Events

March 29, 2011

Nor Cal Truth     Mar 29, 2011

Another in a series of warships “honoring” 9/11 is christened into action.

From the Mississippi Sun Herald:

The third in a series of U.S. Navy amphibious assault vessels named in honor of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks [was] christened Saturday, and a key responder at the Pentagon nearly a decade ago is bringing the heroics of his fellow emergency workers with him.

The future USS Arlington is being built at the Northrop Grumman Corp. shipyard in Pascagoula. It’s named in honor of Arlington County, Va., where American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, killing 184 people, after being hijacked en route from Washington-Dulles International Airport to Los Angeles.

The ship’s sponsor is Joyce Rumsfeld, wife of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who was in the Pentagon on the day of the attack.

Yes it is the third ship in “honor” of 9/11, not the first, not the second. The USS Arlington used a small amount of steel from the Paentagon crash site.

More details on the ship from Military.com:

The Arlington is the U.S Navy’s eighth and latest San Antonio class amphibious transport ship, and the third to bear the name. The ship’s overall length is 684 feet and can reach speeds in excess of 22 knots. Arlington’s armament includes two Bushmaster II 30 mm close in guns; two rolling airframe missile launchers and 10 .50-caliber machine guns.

Burning Question: Should the History of High-Rise Fires Be Ignored?

September 8, 2010

source: Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth   Sep 8, 2010

Noted author David McCulloch once wrote, “History is a guide to navigation in perilous times.” Indeed, if history is a guide, one can look at high-rise building fires that have occurred in the past to address the issue of building safety. This review includes the fires that the 9/11 Commission concluded caused the collapse of the WTC Twin Towers, and WTC 7, for which officials declared the collapse was due to fires. Two high-rise fires listed below occurred after 9/11 and are especially noteworthy.

The history of high-rise, steel-framed buildings spans only about 100 years. Still, there are a number of very hot, large, and long lasting fires to review. One in particular, the Empire State Building, suffered a severe fire when it was struck by a B-25 bomber. The fire was fueled by high-octane gasoline, when the plane hit the 78th and 79th floors. Here’s a look at some high-rise fires through history, listed chronologically.

Precognitive Dissonance: How did so Many Know Building 7 Would Fall?

September 5, 2010

by Shawn Hamilton   source: Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth   Sep 5, 2010

It’s clear from primary sources of evidence that quite a few people believed Building 7 was going to collapse. Such perceptive anticipation might be easy to understand if it was common for modern steel-frame skyscrapers to collapse from fires.  But since this had never happened prior to September 11, 2001, we have to ask ourselves why the collapse was so easy to predict. The Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth suspect foul play.  Ubiquitous evidence of foreknowledge adds support to the hypothesis that explosives were used to demolish Building 7.

Witnesses on the scene included construction workers, firefighters, and police. One witness, a first-year New York University medical student  named Daryl, was interviewed for WINS NYC News Radio live on the evening of September 11, 2001:

“We were watching the building [WTC 7] actually ‘cause it was on fire…. The bottom floors of the building were on fire and…we heard this sound that sounded like a clap of thunder…turned around— we were shocked to see that the building was – ah – well it looked like there was a shockwave ripping through the building, and all the windows started busted out. It was horrifying,” he said. “About a second later the bottom floor caved out and the building followed after that… We saw the building crash all the way to the ground. We were in shock.”

The “sound of a clap of thunder” and “the presence of a “shock wave ripping through the building” are indicative of an explosive blast, as is the shattering of windows.

In this startling landmark 9/11 video clip captured by CNN, a construction worker turns around after hearing an explosion from WTC 7 and notes “Did you hear that?

Kite – Hit – Steel – Plane – Must

May 5, 2010

What a group of words huh? What do you make of them?

Well if you don’t remember this is the group of words that 2nd graders were reading to George Bush as the planes hit the two towers on 9/11.

Four of the words are easily identifiable with 9/11.

Steel From 9/11: Not Only the USS New York; USS Arlington and USS Somerset Too

April 13, 2010

April 13, 2010

This is from the US Navy website:

From flight deck to crew quarters, the LPD of the 21st century is state-of-the-art in design and technology, superseding four older classes of amphibious landing craft.

In fact, the vessel you see in New York harbor today is the latest in a long line of warships named for the state and city of New York (Click on ‘Other Former USS NEW YORKs’ tab, above).

She is one of three new amphibious assault ships named after places in three states where more than 3,000 people were murdered in the infamous terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.

Still in construction are the other two: the soon-to-be USS ARLINGTON (LPD-24) named for the Virginia county in which the Pentagon is located, and the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25) named for the Pennsylvania county where American Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field.

Port Authority Seeks New Homes for WTC 9/11 Steel

April 5, 2010

Only the smallest fraction of steel was not melted down and reused. 7.5 tons of it was used to fabricate the USS New York which hit the ocean last year. The steel in the pictures at the original source for the article below look really clean; I wonder if they have been scrubbed..

source: Port Authority    April 5, 2010

The Port Authority is soliciting proposals from public and municipal agencies and not-for-profit organizations interested in acquiring a piece of 9/11 World Trade Center steel for public display.

Acceleration + Serendipity

January 5, 2010

This is a study of the overall downward acceleration of WTC1, the North Tower of the World Trade Center. During this investigation it was discovered that the one feature that kept pace with the original acceleration of the roofline was the leading wave of ejections on the west wall.
