Top Senate Republicans called Friday for the three powers to be made permanent — a step rejected in the original law in favor of “sunsets” to ensure regular reviews by Congress to ferret out possible abuse.
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said doing so would give US intelligence and law enforcement officials “the highest degree of operational certainty that’s practicable.”
Jesse Ventura sits in for Larry King on the Larry King Live Show. This is pretty significant due to the book, “American Conspiracies” which Jesse authored, along with his current philosophies and political beliefs. All in all the best discussions are those that cover the War, and the lack of reviews for Jesse’s book. The two females can be a quite feisty at times, and Jesse is indeed being polite and respectful in discussion topics for Larry King while hosting his show; instead of it being an extension of Mr. Ventura’s hit TV show “Conspiracy Theory.” Hopefully this only builds more public confidence in Mr. Ventura and his questioning of the events of 9/11/01.
US House Rep. Ron Paul says the CIA has has in effect carried out a “coup” against the US government, and the intelligence agency needs to be “taken out.”
If history has taught us anything, it is that we need to beware those populist politicians who claim to be men of peace by nature but men of war by necessity. The most violent wars this planet has ever seen, the most brutal regimes that have ever sought to repress their own citizens, the most genocidal schemes have always been nurtured under the leadership of politicians who offer war, violence and domination as a way of achieving peace.
Napoleon waged wars of agression in country after country, terrorizing the peoples of Europe and ravaging their lands in the name of a continent-wide peace under the French flag.
Hitler, too, assured the world that his conquests were born of necessity, a means to achieve the “living space” that the German people required to live in peace.
Vietnam, too, was a war to achieve peace. If Vietnam fell to the communists, the world was told, the dominoes would begin to fall in country after country and it would not be long before the red tide flooded Western shores.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke (November 29th Washington Post) does not want us to know any of the details of the Fed’s secret operations. This position is not surprising and has been typical of all central bank chairmen.
Bernanke’s stated goal in his editorial is “To design a system of financial oversight…” that will “provide a robust framework for preventing future crises.”
During its 96 years of existence, the Federal Reserve has played havoc with our economy and brought great suffering to millions through unemployment and price escalation. In addition, it has achieved what only a central bank can: a steady depreciation of our currency. Today’s dollar is now worth four cents compared to the dollar entrusted to the Federal Reserve in 1913. Read the rest of this entry »
On Monday night, Congressman Paul appeared on CNBC to debate former ITC chief economist Peter Morici over the Federal Reserve’s role in the economy and the need for greater transparency at the Fed.
Ron Paul tells Bloomberg that Congressman Watt has just more or less killed the bill to audit the fed:
Representative Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who has called for an end to the Federal Reserve, said legislation he introduced to audit monetary policy has been “gutted”while moving toward a possible vote in the Democratic-controlled House.
The bill, with 308 co-sponsors, has been stripped of provisions that would remove Fed exemptions from audits of transactions with foreign central banks, monetary policy deliberations, transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee and communications between the Board, the reserve banks and staff, Paul said today. [Ron Paul's] Federal Reserve Transparency Act, HR 1207, [is] now up to 232 co-sponsors. It needs a two-thirds vote with 290 members on board so … Obama will not veto it.
Ron Paul’s office has just confirmed that 290 members are now on board supporting the bill.
Here is the list of 289 supporters (plus Paul equals 290).
Obviously, support in the Senate for the parallel bill is crucial. According to Zero Hedge, there are approximately 25 co-sponsors for Sen. Bernie Sanders’ S 604 Bill, “The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009.
Most people assume that the Fed wants to keep secret the list of banks which received bailout money. You know, something along the lines of “we gave Goldman Sachs $100 billion”.
But what the Fed is really struggling to keep hidden is the fact that the entire financial system is based on massive manipulation and fraud by the Fed and its primary dealers.
Of course, when the New York Federal Reserve’s “primary dealers” (the dealers through which the Fed carries out its open market operations in general, and its PPT, ESF, and other schemes through) get the huge sums of cash from the Fed, they place bets based on inside knowledge of where the money flows are going (they also, supposedly, skim off part of the cash, but that’s for another essay).
In other words, the Fed’s primary dealers engage in insider trading and frontrunning on a scale which would make your normal white collar felons look like a silver nanoparticle.
Finally, the Fed is not the only central bank engaging in manipulation. An audit would show how the Fed is playing footsie with other private central banks in an international con game.
Don’t believe me? Show me the books and prove me wrong.
Ben Bernanke answers congress on Ron Paul’s legislation to audit the Federal Reserve. Interesting what he says about the takeover of monetary policy by congress. Note that the Constitution grants full power over money to Congress. -ed2
