Favorable KTVU News Coverage Uses NorCalTruth Video Upload; Grandmother Arrested During PG&E SmartMeter Protest

January 15, 2011

KTVU used some of the above footage in their news segment from the Jan 11th protest  - click here to watch their news segment from that evening.

Many of you might not know that SmartGrid will require you to purchase new appliances for your home:

What additional expenditures will be required on the consumer end?
In order to get the purported benefits of smart meters, consumers will purchase their own communications devices, computers, high-speed internet, special thermostats, appliance chips and other automated equipment. The cost of retrofitting or replacing existing appliances alone will be astronomical.

Without the expenditures, consumers will not see any difference from the new meters except higher electric bills.

Look at this review by Emeter.com:

The full vision requires integrating smart meter data applications, and then linking smart appliances to a Home Area Network (HAN) so that utilities can automatically send price data to appliances.

Bluetooth, a wireless technology developer, knows it and wants in - casually admitting how you will have even less control of your OWN HOME:

In its next stage, smart energy will also allow the utilities, or an energy broker within the home, to turn off high energy-consuming appliances where necessary to balance the grid. That implies an internal network within the home, which is probably wireless, which connects these devices to the smart meter.

Santa Rosa SmartMeter Protest Closes PG&E Office

December 9, 2010

I will provide more updates on this event in the near future; I was with this group for the day today fighting tyranny in our backyards. Have you see the last video produced by NorCalTruth featuring local residents blocking SmartMeter installations?

Please visit these sites for more information:

source: Press Democrat   Dec 9, 2010

Demonstrators protesting continued installation of PG&E SmartMeters around Northern California closed down a company service and payment center in Santa Rosa on Thursday after blocking the entrance.

Police said the demonstration on Stony Circle was generally peaceful, and PG&E opted to close the customer service office for the day rather than seek arrests, spokesman Paul Moreno said.

A leader of opponents to the wireless transmission meters, meanwhile, said some of the protesters were ready to go to jail if necessary to make the point that PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission have an obligation to fulfill demand for more thorough studies into health concerns related to radio frequency emissions from the meters.

Opting Out of “Smart”Meter is not an Option: PG&E, CPUC Plan to Roll Over Citizen, City Demands

November 30, 2010

Nor Cal Truth     Nov 30, 2010

The following video documents the latest efforts by California citizenry in blocking and slowing the “Smart”Meter installations:

As reported by others for a long time, PG&E is not accepting “opt outs”. The proper term is “deferment” or “delaying” as opt out is not an option in the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) mandates that PG&E is following blindly.

Reported a year ago in the San Jose Mercury News and carried by others including TURN:

Some consumers have been stunned to learn that SmartMeters are mandatory: There’s no way to opt out of getting one. The meters, as well as the wires and pipes that lead up to them, are PG&E property, and the utility says it has the regulatory authority to install and maintain them.

PG&E will eventually show up to customers doors with law enforcement to make sure that the “Smart”Meters are installed. This could become tricky, especially in WatsonvilleSanta Cruz County or Fairfax, Ca where city ordinances have been passed banning PG&E from installing the new technology.

Watsonville has stepped up to the plate by issuing a ticket to PG&E with a fine of $100.00.

A Watsonville building official smacked PG&E with a $100 fine this week for installing a SmartMeter – likely the first citation the utility has received since several California cities began banning the controversial technology.

The Structure Group and it’s Fraudulent “Independent Review” of the PG&E SmartMeter

November 17, 2010

-please consider going to the meeting in Santa Rosa being held on Thursday, Nov. 18th by PG&E.    Say NO! to SmartMeters.

A local home owners defense against intrusive SmartMeter installations.

by Brian Romanoff     Nor Cal Truth   Nov 17th, 2010

Early in September the California Public Utility Commission found the PG&E SmartMeters were accurate via a third-party review.

The CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) based their assessment on the results of a study conducted by the Structure Group.

Many local Governments reference this as reason for the public to not worry about the SmartMeter installations currently underway.

The people of California and the CPUC, were told that the study by The Structure Group was “independent”.

In review, the Structure Group distribution webpage says this:

How Smart is Your Grid? For many companies, discussions on Smart Grid start and end with the meter. We see it differently.  Structure views Smart Grid as a platform for transforming electric utility business models:  from customer enablement and improved operations, to new ways to manage supply and demand.  With such large investments in Smart Grid technologies, a broad perspective is required to achieve lasting success. Open Exchange with Customers About Smart Meter is not “Meaningful Dialog” for PG&E in Sebastopol, Ca

April 22, 2010
April 22, 2010

The “too big to talk” category grows

Set for a discussion on “SmartMeters”, Sebastopol residents were stood up by PG&E representatives at a special forum hosted by County Supervisor Effren Camillo. Please notice the Orwellian excuse given by PG&E in the compressed Sonoma County Press Democrat article below:

Sonoma County Supervisor Effren Carrillo said PG&E had promised to send a representative to participate in the Sebastopol forum, sparked by residents’ concerns about the SmartMeters’ safety and accuracy.

But Carrillo said he received a text message Wednesday afternoon from PG&E saying it would not attend. Because the format was changed to include an open exchange with the audience, he said the company representatives “no longer feel they can have a meaningful dialog with their customers.”
