US Media and the Mark Walhberg Apology

January 24, 2012

source: 9/11 Blogger   Jan 24, 2012

The US media is especially proud of standing up for the victims of 9/11 by self righteously reporting the apology from Walhberg. Why is it that an actor is able to apologize for insensitive comments but intelligence officials and agents won’t explain let alone apologize for getting a bunch of people killed? When US media could have stood up for the victims in a substantive way they failed to do so. As recently as September 2011, 60 Minutes countered former FBI agent Ali Soufan’s credible accusation of CIA withholding of information by way of a CIA talking point:

The CIA told us any suggestion it purposely refused to share critical information on the 9/11 plots with FBI is “baseless” and “these allegations diminish the hard work and dedication of countless CIA officers.”

The Interrogator

This is journalism? Soufan (and others) have already credible demonstrated that the withholding was deliberate. The question then is why did CIA and FBI UBLU officials and agents withhold the information? For unknown reasons the US media will not use their access to power to get an answer. US media has never interviewed Rich Blee, chief of CIA’s Alec Station in the lead up to 9/11 or Rod Middleton, chief of the FBI Bin Laden unit (UBLU) in the lead up to 9/11. Blee was even promoted after 9/11! How on earth could the media not ask Tenet to account for this?

There is a total disconnect in US society in regard to 9/11. Actors are pressured to apologize for making comments that are disrespectful to the victims while US officials and intelligence agents who obstructed al Qaeda investigations before 9/11 are given a complete pass by the US media. If anyone should apologize to 9/11 victims it should be the US media.

Investigate Building 7 : A Call to Reexamine the Most Important Event of Our Time. March 26 2011, University of Hartford, Ct

Failure to Report : A Panel Discussion Among Journalists

Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Media, Culture and Communication at NYU
Leslie Griffith, Journalist
Craig Unger, Author
Dick Russell, Author

This panel will address the US media’s tendency to look away from major stories of all kinds by dismissing them as mere “conspiracy theories.” First will be a discussion the press’s silence on the strange collapse of Building 7, and the panelists will move on from there to discuss other mysteries or scandals that, although they merit serious investigation, are either laughed off or ignored. Among these forbidden stories are the “OctoberSurprise”of1980, the fate of TWA Fligh t800,the CIA’s reported drug dealing in America’s innercities, theOklahoma City bombing and the epidemic of widespread election fraud since 2000.

Write and Call to Local and National Media:

January 19, 2011

source: Jon Gold    Jan 19, 2011

Whether you call in or write; whether local or National, it is important that everyone is involved. If you can’t make it to D.C. to chain yourself to the W.H. fence ( Ican’t) than please call at least one outlet, even a radio station will broadcast your call to thousands if not more.

It will only take 10-20 minues to make some calls. There is more than one way to acheive victory for our mission of a new investigation into 9/11, and this is just one of those ways.

(It is a integral part of this Nation’s history to be arrested for a good cause that  Representative’s don’t neccesarily care or know much about)

9/11 Truth Has ALWAYS Been Non-Violent

January 19, 2011

by Jon Gold   source: 9/11 Truth News   Jan 16, 2011

In case you hadn’t noticed, the obvious campaign by the corporate media to paint anyone that questions the official account of 9/11 as a violent murderer has been stepped up a notch.

In the past, we’ve had people like Glenn Beck say that we love Holocaust Denying murderers (now he’s saying we are a “Recipe For Disaster“). The “Pentagon Shooter” was painted as a 9/11 Truther. Now, the recent Tucson shooter, and an Asset Manager have been painted as people on the side of 9/11 Justice. Just go to screwloosechange or Media Matters to see what the so-called “debunkers” are saying. They have gone to GREAT LENGTHS to help the media out with their campaign.

As I mentioned in my article The Facts Speak For Themselves, the corporate media has gone to great lengths to avoid anything having to do with real 9/11 Justice, and instead, has chosen to attack those seeking it. This is nothing new, but it must be addressed.

9/11 Truth or 9/11 Justice has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stood for non-violent action. This posting from 2006 at entitled, “Now That You Know, What Can You Do?” talks about “Nonviolent Action.” A post of mine from 2007 entitled, “The 9/11 Truth Movement I Belong To…” says “the 9/11 Truth Movement I belong to is non-violent.” The 2008 Declaration for Standards and Strategies for 9/11 Truth specifically calls for “A dedication to rational, respectful, and nonviolent debate and activism.”

Let’s be very clear, anyone who acts violently does NOT represent this cause.

CNN Notices Left and Right Attacking 9/11 Questions on Geraldo, Napolitano

source: CNN    Dec 3, 2010

It’s rare that two media watchdogs – one on the left and one on the right – ever agree when it comes to assessing coverage on the cable news outlets.

But both the conservative Newsbusters and liberal Media Matters are aiming fire at Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera and Judge Andrew Napolitano for recently suggesting the third building to fall on September 11, 2001 – 7 World Trade Center- may have collapsed for reasons beside the widely held belief that fire from the two World Trade Center towers nearby was the ultimate cause.

In a segment that aired on his program more than two weeks ago, Rivera reported on those who claim the building’s collapse was more consistent with that which would occur from explosive devices.

“I’m certainly much more open-minded about it than I was,” Rivera said of the alternate possibility for the building’s fall.

9/11 Families Demand Apology from Media Matters

December 3, 2010

related: CNN Says Fox Takes Heat From Left and Rght Over Analysts 9/11 Remarks

source: 9/11 Truth News       Dec 3, 2010

Responding to a series of hit pieces by self-declared “media watchdog” website Media Matters, a public advocacy group representing 9/11 family members has demanded an apology.

NYCCAN, the group responsible for airing ads urging an investigation into the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7, has issued a statement applauding FOX News hosts Andrew Napolitano and Geraldo Rivera for their fair treatment of the subject and rebuking Media Matters and The Huffington Post for their biased coverage.

An excerpt from the statement:

On November 29, Media Matters published an article entitled, “9/11 Victim Families Criticize Judge Napolitano Comments,” in which four 9/11 family members were quoted as attacking Judge Napolitano, without a single mention of the more than one-hundred 9/11 family members from NYC CAN who share Napolitano’s skepticism. One family member quoted in the article went as far as to say, “Anybody who talks about that is obviously not a family member and just trying to stir the pot and cause controversy.”

9/11 Widow: The Media Duped Us

September 18, 2010

by Alissa Torres  source: Salon   Sep 18, 2010

The first time I heard about the Park51 Islamic community center was on May 6, 2010, when I received the following e-mail from a New York TV reporter:

“I’m doing story today about the proposed mosque project at the WTC site. I am interviewing the developers but I am also trying to look for family members who think building a mosque at the site is a bad idea.”

“Bad idea” — that was a bit leading, wasn’t it? I always thought journalists were supposed to be objective, and yet, here we were, the “victims of 9/11,” being prodded for our outrage. An hour later, another e-mail arrived, this time from CNN. The language was more measured: “As a family member of someone who was killed in the attacks on 9/11, what do you think about the decision to construct a mosque this close to Ground Zero?”

Response to Chip Berlet’s “Toxic to Democracy: Conspiracy Theories, Demonization, and Scapegoating”/ By Peter Phillips and Micke

July 29, 2010

by Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff    source: Project Censored/Media Freedom Foundation    July 29, 2010

In his recent essay “Toxic to Democracy,” Political Research Associates (PRA) Senior Analyst Chip Berlet uses the very same methods of demonization by association that he so strongly opposes. Berlet convolutes historical context, ideological differences, and progressives vis-à-vis extreme conservative/neo-con/libertarians in a diatribe of meaninglessness.

Berlet lumps valid academic research on State Crimes Against Democracy (SCADs) in with anti-Semitic jingoism and far right wing extremism.  He suggests that any research that even implies some sort of conspiracy is dangerous and suspect, seemingly forgetting a long list of proven US and other government conspiracies (SCADs) including: Operation Mockingbird, COINTELPRO, Gulf of Tonkin “Incident,” October Surprise, CIA-Contra Dark Alliance, Iran-Contra, WMDs and Iraq Invasion, and the overthrow of governments in Iran, Guatemala, Haiti, Chile, Greece, Indonesia, Panama, and many others.

The Gulf, The Flotilla, 9/11 & The Internet Kill Switch

July 14, 2010

video by Moris Herman  source: Mathaba   July 14, 2010

The Gulf oil spill, the flotilla raid and 9/11 all were deemed to be worthy of having the news orchestrated to the sheeple, yet the internet has undermined this.

Who is behind the news orchestration, and the percieved need to kill the internet?

BP, Peter Sutherland, Media Censorship, Stock Sales, Halliburton, and the Gulf Oil Well

June 13, 2010

by Brian Romanoff    Nor Cal Truth   June 13, 2010

Why has a massive boycott of BP not been announced here in America? Are you buying gas at a BP gas station?

BP, or British Petroleum, is just one more shining example of corruption and lack of accountability – as well as apathy by most of the American populace.  The foreign multinational Corporation has been pretty much useless in the last 2 months for anything other than letting oil spew in American and International waters and land. There is no price tag that makes this right. Just as there is no price tag for the taken lives of war, and the ways in which these events change our path, shaping the society and culture that we are surrounded by as we “advance” into the future. There is no price tag for such mistakes that harm irreparably ourselves and our environment. We must have accountability.

That said, there is a lot of interesting side notes to this event that I want to compile from a few different sources, just so YOU know the big picture.

Weeks ago it was reported that a CBS crew was blocked from a beach by the Coast Guard on orders of BP.

New videos from CNN and a local news outlet have come into the public domain showing more censorship:

Modern Censorship

June 8, 2010

June 8, 2010

The mission of Project Censored is to teach students and the public about the role of a free press in a free society – and to tell the News That Didn’t Make the News and Why

Please help our efforts and donate here

At Project Censored, we examine the coverage of news and information important to the maintenance of a healthy and functioning democracy. We define Modern Censorship as the subtle yet constant and sophisticated manipulation of reality in our mass media outlets. On a daily basis, censorship refers to the intentional non-inclusion of a news story – or piece of a news story – based on anything other than a desire to tell the truth. Such manipulation can take the form of political pressure (from government officials and powerful individuals), economic pressure (from advertisers and funders), and legal pressure (the threat of lawsuits from deep-pocket individuals, corporations, and institutions).

In our view, the only valid justification for declining a news story is that in a medium limited by time and space, another news story was simply more important to the people of the community, whether local, national or international. While admittedly a subjective process, it is, nonetheless, a process to be undertaken by the news people themselves (the investigative journalists and editors), NOT by the managers and CEOs of their “parent company.” No professional journalist or researcher should ever have to face the destruction of his or her career (or life) simply because they wanted to tell the truth. While no two people will always agree on what story is more important than another, a system where the working reporters and editors run the newsroom would at least provide a fertile environment for debate, dissent and critical thinking.
