hit 30.6, the highest level since TrimTabs began tracking the data in 2004.
Sonoma County Swine Flu Hype
August 30, 2009In an article published on Saturday, the Press Democrat reminds us the Swine Flu (hype) is here to stay.
One day after announcing the sixth death related to swine flu in Sonoma County, public health officer Mary Maddux-Gonzalez said Saturday that the virus is so prevalent that “efforts to stop it from spreading, such as school or workplace closures, would have little effect.”
The sixth case in Sonoma County follows the trend of the previous five (1, 2, 3, 4, 5,) in many ways. All victims share the existence of previous heart/lung conditions.
But by midnight Saturday, Victor, who county officials said had a pre-existing medical condition stemming from open heart surgery when he was a newborn, became “unresponsive” and was taken back to Memorial Sunday morning..
Afghan Election’s Outcome Doesn’t Matter
August 30, 2009Why? Because US has thwarted, not supported, democracy there.

History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” — Karl Marx
The Afghan presidential election will prove to be simply irrelevant. The U.S., whose imperial hubris renders it ignorant of other cultures and societies, invaded Afghanistan with the stated purpose eliminating Al Qaeda (remember them, the few hundred armed followers of Osama bin what’s-his-name?). In doing so, they repeated the same blind arrogance of their imperial predecessors, the British and the Soviets.
Blackwater Thugs Hired by CIA Without Knowing CIA Was Involved
August 30, 2009Obama has yet to mention what of the private armies still operating in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places. Looking through today’s main headlines about Blackwater, an interesting note was found. Not too surprising, but interesting…-ed

WASHINGTON – When the CIA revived a plan to kill or capture terrorists in 2004, the agency turned to the well-connected security company then known as Blackwater USA.
But the CIA’s use of the private contractor as part of its now-abandoned plan to dispatch death squadsskirted concerns now re-emerging with recent disclosures about Blackwater’s role.
The former senior CIA official said that close to a dozen Blackwater “surrogates” were recruited to join the death squad program. The recruits, the former official said, were not told they were working for the CIA.The official did not know how Blackwater found them.
The program reportedly cost millions of dollars over an eight-year span. A precise figure is not available because of the agency’s classified budget.
South Tower: Exploding Projectile
August 29, 2009A close-up view of debris being ejected from the South Tower of the World Trade Center as the 30-floor top section falls to the east shows numerous smoking projectiles that look like comets. Several of them can be seen to explode. One such exploding projectile is followed here. It ejects two fragments, both of which undergo secondary explosions. (Note, the rising fragment to the left of the projectile under consideration appears to be a tumbling object that alternates from black to white to invisible. It passes behind one of the fragments described in the video.)

What Every American Should be Made to Learn About the IG Torture Report
August 27, 2009source: Glenn Greenwald, The Salon
I wrote earlier today about Eric Holder’s decision to ”review” whether criminal prosecutions are warranted in connection with the torture of Terrorism suspects — that can be read here — but I want to write separately about the release today of the 2004 CIA’s Inspector General Report (.pdf), both because it’s extraordinary in its own right and because it underscores how unjust it would be to prosecute only low-level interrogators rather than the high-level officials who implemented the torture regime. Initially, it should be emphasized that yet again, it is not the Congress or the establishment media which is uncovering these abuses and forcing disclosure of government misconduct. Rather, it is the ACLU (with which I consult) that, along with other human rights organizations, has had to fill the void left by those failed institutions, using their own funds to pursue litigation to compel disclosure. Without their efforts, we would know vastly less than we know now about the crimes our government committed.
Before saying anything about the implications of this Report, I want to post some excerpts of what CIA interrogators did. Every American should be forced to read and learn this in order to know what was done in their names (click images to enlarge): Read the rest of this entry »
The Feds are Starting to Sound Like Wise Guys
August 27, 2009source: Washingtons Blog
You’ve heard the arguments:
- If we audit the Federal Reserve (which has violated the Federal Reserve Act and other laws), that is a “line that we don’t want to cross,” and it would be “problematic for the country”, according to Tim Geithner
- If we indict those who committed torture (which violates U.S. law and the Geneva convention), then the U.S. will face a terrorist attack, according to a group of senators
Doesn’t this sound a wee bit like the old protection racket scam?
“We wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt, now would we?”
Update: Santa Rosa PD Officer Involved in Armored Car Heists Also Former Brinks Employee; Charges Include Threats to Local High School
August 27, 2009Update #2. Alleged Accomplice Will Testify Against Former Officer in Armored Car Heists (Press Democrat – April 9, 2010)
New revelations in the former SRPD officer who has been arrested for allegedly carrying out local armored car heists. He has a short history working with the armored car service Brinks, as well as working at Sonoma State University as a campus officer. Apparently he is also being charged with making a threat to a local High School in order to create a distraction for the police. On top of all of that he apparently was operating an indoor cannabis garden for his own interests. Whew, this guy could easily become the poster-face for certain police corruption in the area, NOT to say they are ALL bad, because I know some aren’t. But a local cop who robs armored cars, threatens 1500 kids and grows cannabis…I wonder what this guy did when he was on duty and had the badge to protect him! -ed

A former Santa Rosa police officer charged with four armored car robberies in Sonoma and Marin counties apparently used his knowledge as a patrolman – and a former armored car company employee – to pull off the lucrative heists.
In court Wednesday, prosecutors filed 10 felony and one misdemeanor charge against ex-officer Robert “Steve” Starling, 35, of Santa Rosa in connection with four thefts dating to September 2007 in Santa Rosa, Novato and Sebastopol.
In addition to being a former police officer, Starling briefly worked as a Brinks armored carrier employee, police said.
Santa Rosa Schools Endorse Sponsorship Plan; No Public Opposition Present
August 27, 2009What are their options? Sell the lockers to AT &T , the gym to Coke, the arts program to Clear Channel. I wonder if AT & T, Coke, or Clear Channel will ever need intelligent consumers for the future of their companies, or simply manipulated consumers to support their companies future. Please start a discussion if you have something to say, the comments box is a great place to be heard! -ed

Santa Rosa City Schools moved a step closer Wednesday to adopting a policy that would allow companies and sponsors to pay for naming rights to buildings and educational programs.
Board members informally endorsed a plan that could allow business to pay for sponsorships in exchange for posted signs, announcements or “other reasonable means,” according to the draft proposal.
“It’s a budget issue,” said board member Wally Lowry of the board’s unanimous support for moving forward. No member of the public spoke in opposition to the plan. The board is expected to take up the issue again at its Sept. 9 meeting.
Examples of Top Down Demolition
August 26, 2009y thanks to Snowcrash for posting this video in a comment on the National Geographic thread. As we know, our anti-truth opposition loves to claim that the towers couldn’t have been demolitions because they collapsed from the crash zone on down, and that controlled demolitions “typically” start from the bottom. (Which WTC7 did, of course.) This was a demolition from February 2007 in France.
I don’t think it got much review in the truth movement; I say this because many in the movement claimed victory over this debunker talking point upon discovering this one:
Invisible Empire: A New World Order, Official Trailer
August 26, 2009Invisible Empire: A New World Order defined sets out to do just that, define the term “New World Order” and shed light on the power elite, their agenda, and there modes of operation. Filmmaker Jason Bermas who is best known for his work on Loose Change, and more recently Fabled Enemies has decided to go beyond 9/11 and take the next logical step.
